Yesterday was very long but ended up being constructive and entertaining. After I got off work, I rushed home to change and drive up to the North side to meet Julia and the rest of the bridesmaid. When we arrived at David's Bridal on 82nd Street, it was a complete zoo, again. They did not have our appointment on the books. There was no record of our previous discussion of bridesmaid dresses from the last time we were there. It immediately made my blood boil but I was trying to take it easy and try not to escalate things for the bride. But then we saw we were working with the same bitchy consultant as before, Heather. Once again, she was rude, condescending and just plain stupid. I hate to say that but I really just needed to get that out. I was realistic from the beginning and not expecting a Say Yes to the Dress experience but I've gotten better assistance in Tarjay. I will never ever shop there, nor recommend that anyone else, for that matter. There are plenty of independently owned shops and boutiques that will deliver that special bridal experience she was hoping for but never got; and never will. I looked on their website to see if you could contact corporate but there wasn't; duh, they would be bombarded with complaints.
When everyone finally got there, The Bride put her dress on again. She looked amazing! She is getting smaller and smaller every time I see her and I know that she is be just gorgeous by August. I went with a size 4 even though I never tried on a 4 so fingers crossed that it fits okay. I plan to be about 7-10 pounds lighter by the end of August. My other D.B. dress is a size 6, the same material, and too big for me. Yay, i'm shrinking!
After we finally finished up and hauled ass out of D.B., the girls and I grabbed lunch at Cancun. Definitely not diet friendly but oh well. My diet is not about saying "no", it's about watching what I eat closely and paying attention to portions as well as rewarding myself from time to time. It seems to be working so I was able to enjoy fajitas with chips and salsa (I refrained from the white cheese).
We parted ways with 2 of the bridesmaids and met up with some friends we hadn't seen in forever. Julia came out and it was the first time we hung out socially in almost a year. Our friend Jon is now living with his brother and 2 other roommates. It was a small group of people but perfect for just chilling and catching up. We discussed reviving Jail Break, an insanely fun outdoor hide and go seek-ish game.
All and all a great, quality time. I slipped up and smoked a cigarette or two but oh well. Not going to beat myself up for it. It was so amazing to be hanging out with my 2 best friends which is something we haven't done in soooooo very long. I miss them so much. Hanging out at Jon's brought me back about 5 years. It's so crazy how much things have changed and where everyone is in their lives. It'll be interesting to see where we are in the next 5 years...but i'm in no rush to find out.
