What I'm Cooking: Impromtu Dessert Trifle

Last night I tackled my first attempt at cake balls (still a work in progress. Post to follow, shortly).  But I decided to use some extra cake scraps to make a scrumptious dessert.  This is what I came up with:

Mixed Berry Trifle

So blurry, sorry!
The artist in me had to come up with some design :)
I took the scrapings from the freshly baked cake and packed it down to make the bottom layer.

White Cake
Next, I added a layer of nonfat plain yogurt (1 cup).  It wasn't until now that I realized that I grabbed plain, plain yogurt instead of Greek yogurt at the grocery store (sad face).  I used a spoon to even out and smooth it around.

Finally, I grabbed about a cup of frozen, mixed berries and arranged them in a perfectly symmetric design.  Years of design school really paid off!  Beforehand, I microwaved the berries for about 20 seconds to soften.

TA-DA!!
This was so simple yet had everything I was looking for: sweet, fresh, tangy; without the guilt!  I was so proud that I had to share with D.  He loved it!
