Yummy!! |
This healthy number was thrown together after reading through several other lovely ladies original takes on the power breakfast. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration. Although, I love Trader Joe's/Whole Foods, etc...it's not always practical for me to go there for 1 or 2 specialty items when Marsh is right downtown. It's also not very practical on my wallet in many cases, especially with the high rise in produce prices. So I've had to settle with where the frugal but healthy people shop and I'm just fine with that.
I was going to go with my normal, Kashi GoLean Triple Berry cereal but at almost $5 a box, I decided to try something new. I went with a less expensive box of organic cereal: Full Circle Multi-Grain Cereal with Golden Flax (full of super good-for-ya Omega 3!!)
D laughed at me when I added it to my cart with a smart-ass comment about how awful it probably tastes. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a combo of flakes and granola bunches with a hint of sweetness (similar to Honey Bunches of Oats). Plus I added several extras to it to take it over-the-top level: banana, blueberries, peanut butter and soy milk. It was a major success!! I highly recommend.
Here are the details:
-3/4 cup Full Circle MG cereal with Flax
-1/2 med banana (sliced)
-1/4 cup frozen, unsweetened blueberries
-1 tbsp peanut butter (I used crunchy for even more texture)
-3/4 cup original, light soy milk

This is not a light breakfast. It is a complete, healthy meal, full of energy. This is a great start to a day or before a workout.
What creative, improvised breakfasts have you come up with?? I always love trying new things!!
